CTC Sunday Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog.  We’ve had such hot and windy weather here on the Sunshine Coast this week.  There’s bushfires at Cooroibah and Tewantin at the moment and several bushfires in NSW, I hope everyone is OK and stays safe.

This week at CASEing the Catty we are CASEing a layout from page 22 of the Holiday Catalogue. You may have hopped over from Michelle’s blog.  Make sure you visit all the Design Team’s Blogs by clicking on the “next” button at the bottom of each post.

I’ve CASEd the penguin card in the bottom right hand corner of the above picture.  Originally I made this card for #CTC245 but I didn’t make it into the blog hop because I was holidaying in Cairns.  So I thought I’d use it this week because I really liked how it turned out and I’ve used a really cool technique to create the stars on the background.

My card base is Night of Navy with a layer of Whisper White.  On a separate piece of Whisper White I’ve used my Sponge Brayer and created a background with Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce.  I’ve die cut a circle from Sparkle Glimmer Paper then added a Gold Foil and Wrapped In Plaid Pine Tree.

For the background stars I’ve simply sprayed my stamp, from So Many Stars, with Stampin’ Mist Stamp Cleaner then stamped it onto my brayered card stock.  I accidentally “inked” up my stamp on my Stampin’ Scrub instead of my ink pad and discovered that the Stampin’ Mist Cleaner actually lifts the ink off the brayered card stock.  So I tried it again, this time actually spraying the stamp and I got this very cool result.  When you first stamp your stamp it doesn’t look like anything is happening but as it dries the colour lifts off.  I’ve also added a few Snowflake Sequins and retired Metallic Sequins and the greeting is Gold Heat Embossed on Vellum.

Next up tonight is Tina’s beautiful project.  Just click on the “Next” button to hop right over.
