Hello and welcome to my blog. The ESAD April 2019 Blog Hop is the first of two Blog Hops I’m participating in tonight. I’m hopping with 24 other fabulous demonstrators showcasing some of the retiring old favourites from the 2018/19 Annual Catalogue and the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. You may have come from Jo Weedon’s amazing project, thanks for continuing on with me. Make sure you visit all the Blogs by clicking on the “next” button at the bottom of each post. There’s also a list of participants at the bottom of my Blog incase you get lost along the way.
I didn’t have to think too hard about the stamp set I wanted to use for this Hop. This was the first stamp set I ever bought from Stampin’ Up! After doing a quick Google search I found this stamp set was introduced in 2001 but sadly this year it will be retiring. Of course I’m talking about Lovely As A Tree.
I’ve made a set of 3 cards all using the same products. I thought it would be good to use up some of my Silver Embossing Paste, and when I say use up I really mean open the jar for the first time lol. Don’t panic as the Shimmery White and White Embossing Paste are still available in the new catalogue.
I thought about using the Embossing Paste like a wax seal so I spread some paste on a piece of Whisper White card stock then stamped my stamp into it.
There was heaps of paste still left on my stamp so I thought I’ll stamp it again on a new piece of card stock.
Then I thought about spreading the paste directly onto the stamp and stamping with it. If you’re going to give this technique a try I have one small tip for you. Clean the Embossing Paste off your stamps as soon as you’ve finished #askmehowiknow
My cards use a few retiring products. Lovely As A Tree stamp set, Silver Embossing Paste, Tranquil Tide card stock (I’m really going to miss you Tranquil Tide), Tranquil Textures DSP and Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon.
Here’s some close ups of the Silver Embossing Paste, it looks so much better in real life than in my photos.
Do you like my sentiment? It’s from the current set Itty Bitty Greetings and I’ve silver heat embossed it on Tranquil Tide card stock. It seemed like a fitting sentiment for a stamp set that’s been loved for so long.
Marvi was not sure which card was his favourite. He looks a bit confused.
It’s time to hop over to see Lisa Whitehead’s beautiful project. Just click on the “Next” button below.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for leaving a comment. I love reading them.

Peta these are such great cards and I love your use of the embossing paste. Love the look.
I simply can’t believe this stamp set is retiring. I love your project, very inspiring. Thanks for sharing
Great technique Peta, although I would be a bit nervous to try that stuff dries fast!
Great technique, I still have never used embossing paste! Gorgeous cards
I love the sparkly element the silver embossing paste gives to these cards. Would you believe I have never purchased Lovely as a Tree? I must be the only person in the world that does not have it! Ps Cute cat by the way x
Jo W says hi! 😉 (as per her blog hop post)
Great tips to use the embossing paste to stamp with – I may have a tub of that unopened as well!!
I can’t believe how long Lovely as a tree lasted, I scored a practically brand new set at a 2nd hand market years ago and never regretted that bargain purchase
Lovely As A Tree may be retiring (I’m still in shock) but it will stay in my stash forever. Love that you have used a completely different medium to showcase the versatility of this stamp set!
I would never have thought to use embossing paste that way, and yet it gives the cards a very interesting effect.
What an interesting technique. I must try this.
I’ve never tried the embossing technique-looks like fun but will be sure to clean it straight off if I do!!!
I love the embossing paste wax seal idea Peta. So effective! I think Marvi thinks they all look delicious! x
What a great way to use the silver embossing paste! Looks amazing! confession time: I don’t own Lovely as a Tree!!
Oh my, I thought everyone would have Lovely as a Tree!!!
What an interesting technique! I can’t believe Lovely As A Tree has been around for THAT long! Must be some well loved sets out there.
Love your cards and I can’t wait to use this technique.
I went to try this, after seeing your post….& my paste is too dry, sadly… Thanks for taking part in the Blog Hop x
Wow, what an interesting effect! It looks awesome with the LAAT stamps. Thanks for sharing! Kelly x
