Welcome back for another week of Social Stamping. This weeks theme is “friend”. You can work your way through the host by clicking on the next button at the bottom of the post or you can click here to go back to Kelly’s post where there’s a list of participants so you can continue your way around.
My friends are so important to me, especially during these crazy times. Because we can’t get together at the moment I’m staying in touch by sending out cards. Sending a paper hug is the next best thing to a real hug.
I’ve used the Free As A Bird stamp set for my card today. The card base is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White. I’ve then added a layer of Come Sail Away DSP. I love how the black, white and grey make the birds really pop.
I’ve used Soft Suede, Old Olive, Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends to colour in the stamped image. I’m not sure if you can see it in my picture but I’ve used my Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend all the way around my image just to give the background some subtle colour. The stamped image is layered over a custom made size Stitched So Sweetly Die.
I’ve kept the inside fairly simple with a thin strip of DSP, a coloured flower and sentiment. The sentiments are from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.
My blog post wouldn’t be complete without a picture of my lovely assistant, Marvi. Judging by the look on his face he’s quite impressed by my card this week. Maybe because he loves looking at birds.
Next up is the wonderful Richelle Fletcher. Just click on the “Next” button to hop over to see her beautiful creation.
Thanks for stopping by.
Ohh I love this pairing Peta. The brightly coloured birds compared to the dark DSP is awesome. Such a lovely card. TFS xx
What a clever use of this dsp with the birds! It really does make the coloured image really stand out and be the star of the show! Gorgeous.
I love your choice of DSP. It really makes the birds pop. Beautiful colouring also.
Oh wow Peta – I would have never recognised the DSP as being from the Sail Away pack, how different it looks when paired with your bright & colourful birds. Great inspiration! Kelly x
love your colouring Peta and hello to Marvi too. I love seeing him in your posts… I so want a cat to cuddle but I know I would be constantly sneezing 🙁 xx
Love your card Peta, the beautifully coloured birds look great on the DSP. Marvi does look impressed too x
I never get tired of looking at these cute birds and my guess is that your cat doesn’t either! I didn’t even recognise this DSP, it looks lovely on this card.
