Happy New Year everyone, thanks for joining us for a brand new year of CASEing the Catty. We are kicking off 2020 by CASEing from the new Mini Catalogue. There’s 75 pages of inspiration, I can’t wait to see what you CASE.
You may have hopped over from Michelle’s blog, make sure you visit all the Design Team’s Blogs by clicking on the “next” button at the bottom of each post.
I’ve chosen the yellow and green card on page 29 as my inspiration. I love the effect of white heat embossing over the stamped image.
I’ve changed the colours and used a different stamp set but the effect is the same. Â Did you know that purple poppies are a symbol of remembrance for animals that served during wartime?
My card base is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White. I’ve stamped the poppies in Gorgeous Grape then stamped the abstract stamp in Highland Heather over the top of the flowers. Then I added in some White Heat Embossed poppies, slightly off setting them.
I’ve added some Pool Party ink around the poppies with a sponge dauber. The sentiment is from the Forever Blossoms stamp set and is stamped in Gorgeous Grape on a narrow piece of Pool party card stock. To finish off my card I added some Metallic baker’s twine and Sequins from the SAB Catalogue.
Marvi was just chilling in the back yard while I was taking my photos. The look on his face may suggest I was disturbing him lol.
It’s time to hop over and see Angela‘s wonderful creation.  Just click on the “next” button to hop right over.

Great case. Love your colour choice and the white embossing looks great over the top of the stamped images. I hadn’t even noticed that on the original!
Lovely card, Peta. Love the colour combo and the background sponging shows all the detail.
Beautiful card Peta, I really love the colour combos.
Fabulous, I just love this embossing and inking technique. Love the colour combo of Highland Heather/Gorgeous Grape and Pool Party. I did not know that about purple poppies! I hope you rewarded Marvi with a few pats for the disturbance.
Stunning card Peta, love the colours too x
Wow, I love this effect, definitely something to try in the future!
Thankyou for the inspiration – I too did not see this technique in the catalogue! You don’t often see a black card base, and this looks amazing with colours of your flowers – so dramatic and elegant!!
Such a beautiful card, and I didn’t know what purple poppies represented, so thanks for sharing
Such a pretty card. I love that embossing technique, it looks stunning.
